Are you best working in a group or by yourself? Please Explain.
I consider myself to be very good at both. I enjoy working in groups because other people can bring their ideas to the table and we can collaborate to produce something better than what I could come up with on my own. I work best in a group setting with individuals who put in equal effort and are open to different ideas. I do not mind working alone because I am able to get things done efficiently because I am only depending on myself and not the whole group. If I had to choose what I am best at; I would say that working in a pair or a group of people is my preferred way.
If a customer asked you a question, and you didn't know the answer, what would you do?
This has actually happened to me multiple times before. I let them know that I do not know the answer; however, I will gladly find the answer for them. I then go ask my supervisor/manager or another co-worker that knows the answer. I then recite what they said back to the customer and ask them if they have any more questions or if they need any further help. It is extremely important to not answer the customers question if you are not 100% sure in your answer, but you still need to answer them.
What motivates you to do your best?
What motivates me the most is my end goal. I picture what it will look like after I accomplish what I need to. This motivates me to stay on task and manage my time wisely so that I can finish everything in a timely manner. Also seeing other people reach their goals motivates me to do better as well. Surrounding myself with motivated individuals is another way that keeps me motivated.
Tell me about an experience you had when you were working on multiple things at the same time. How did you handle it?
What is one area in your life that you feel needs improvement?
There are many areas that need improvement, but if I had to choose just one it would be the academic aspect of my life. I do very well in school; however, I struggle at home with school. By this I mean doing school work that needs to be done at home. I become super distracted and unmotivated which then leads to more stress on me when I don't have what I need done. I want to become more driven in that part of my life; as well as, in my work life.
What is your greatest strength? What is your greatest weakness?
There have been multiple times in my life when I have had multiple tasks to complete in a short amount of time. One very specific time was when I had two different essays to write with due dates very close to each other. When I handle these situations I find it more productive to focus on one thing at a time and to put all of my energy into that one thing. When I do this, the end product is better than trying to split my focus and time up on different things. After I complete one task; I then proceed to put all my attention on the next project. This also lessens my stress because I am only thinking about one thing at a time. This method allowed me to finish and turn in both essays on time.
My greatest strength would be my attention to detail. I am a very detail oriented person; therefore, I notice the small things that others might not. I am also good at looking at different pathways one can take to reach a goal or outcome and assessing which one is the best. One of my weaknesses is that I am a perfectionist. This leads to me very rarely ever being satisfied with my end result. This also goes in hand with my procrastination tendencies leading me to rushing a lot of things because I waited to long to start a project.
If you could choose one superhero power, what would it be and why?
How would you handle an irate customer (or parent, boss, coworker)?
If I could choose any superhero power I would choose the ability to read peoples minds. The reason why I would choose this is because you never really know a persons true intentions. You would also never be fooled by anyone again. People would also not be able to lie in front of you and get away with it. Another reason why is because a lot of the time people will say things but mean something completely different and this can lead to a lot of conflict, but with this ability you can avoid all of that miscommunication.
It is extremely important to be calm when dealing with someone in this state of being. The situation will only worsen if yourself becomes irate as well. I think it is also important to let that person state why they are feeling that way; as well as, actually listening to what they are saying. It is best if you work with them to solve the issue and to not play the blame game with them. The key is to not get defensive and irritate them more even if you did nothing wrong.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
What has been your proudest moment?
In ten years I hope to have a stable job that is not only financially satisfying but intrinsically rewarding as well. I hope to continuously learn and improve my own self and improve in my career. I want to be able to support myself and be independent. I don't see myself as having a family, but if that were to happen then it does. In ten years I hope to be living a successful life in terms of what I define as my own success to be.
My proudest moment was during my sophomore year when the equestrian team made it to states. One of the classes that I was competing in, and had been competing in all season, was Reining. Jake (my horse) and I ended up placing fourth in the class which I was not expecting at all. That season was the first time I had ever tried reining and Jake is, by all means, not a trained reining horse. I was very proud of Jake and myself for competing against actual reiners and placing.
